Pre-purchase Surveys

A Pre-Purchase Survey is a detailed assessment of the yacht's structure, systems, and overall condition, carried out before finalising a purchase.

We inspect the vessel from bow to stern, inside and out, including a haul-out to examine the hull, keel, rudder, and propulsion.

We use appropriate tools – like moisture meters or percussion testing – based on the hull material, to evaluate the integrity of the structure. Inside, we check for signs of stress or damage, ensuring bulkheads, bonding, and stiffening are sound.

Deck fittings, hatches, winches, and anchoring gear are tested, while systems such as engines, generators, plumbing, and electrics are visually inspected and run where possible. A sea trial, if available, allows us to assess their performance underway.

You receive a clear, illustrated report with a summary of key findings, and we are available to discuss the results and next steps.

Insurance Surveys

Insurance Surveys are typically required by insurance companies to assess the condition of a vessel before issuing or renewing a policy.

These surveys focus on the structural integrity, safety equipment, and overall seaworthiness of the yacht, ensuring it meets the standards set by the insurer.

The survey includes a thorough inspection of the hull, deck, rigging, machinery, electrical systems, and safety gear, often conducted while the vessel is out of the water.

Any defects or recommendations identified during the survey may need to be addressed for the insurance coverage to be granted or maintained.

Damage Surveys

These surveys are commissioned by Insurance Companies or Owners when a vessel has suffered loss or damage.

The inspection assesses the nature, extent, and cause of the damage, focusing on structural components, systems, and equipment.

Criteria required by Insurers may vary, but there is usually an additional investigative element.

The report includes photographic evidence, repair recommendations, and assists with insurance claims.
